NEW!!!  Driver Education in the Classroom & Behind the Wheel
 
Hinckley-Finlayson Community Education now provides classroom and behind-the-wheel driver’s education instruction for students ages 15 and older outside the normal school day.
 
State law requires that each student completes 30 hours of the classroom portion of Driver Education and students must be at least 15 years of age on or before the date of their last class.  Our classes last for three hours on a ten day schedule and are taught by teachers with both a teaching license and a driver education certificate.
 
Behind the Wheel time (6 hours) will be scheduled between the instructors and students, once a blue card has been received. 
 
Contact HF Community Education 320-384-7325 to get on the list for the next available class.  Classroom portion currently scheduled Saturday mornings 8-11 am & Monday Evenings from 5-8 pm for 5 weeks.

Home Stretch Workshop

Central MN Housing Partnership


Free yourself from some of the complications and stress of buying a home by participating in a Home Stretch Workshop.In one day, you will learn about qualifying for a mortgage, financing a home, budget

and credit issues, real estate, the closing process, basic home maintenance and affordable mortgage products that may be available to first-time homebuyers.  Some affordable mortgage products, first-time homebuyer products, and government loans may require a buyer to receive a Home Stretch certificate.

 

Registration is required and participants will receive a completion certificate at the end of the day.

Medicare Beneficiaries
  
Open enrollment for Medicare begins Oct 15 and runs through December 7th.  A Senior Linkage Line® staff will be offering FREE Medicare counseling/part D comparisons for those who would like to review their current coverage or need help enrolling.  The specialist will be available by appointment: Fridays, Nov. 7th, Nov. 21st and Dec. 5th form 9am until 12pm. Please call Amy Tvedt at the Senior Linkage Line® to schedule an appointment at 1 800 333 2433.

Appointments will be held at Hinckley Finlayson High School (210 Main St. in Hinckley) in Room 107. 

 

Mystery Quilt 2015

 

Calling all quilters! A new pattern has been chosen so let the mystery begin. The first clue will be given out Jan. 6th. You will quilt at home, but we will have a lunch show and tell.  Let’s get quilting!

For those that are 55 yrs and over and have taken the initial class before.  The class will explore changes in laws, the latest vehicle technology, and provide you with easy-to-use defensive driving tips.  In addition, we will explore traffic safety and accident prevention.  The classroom course allows for a 10% reduction in your insurance rate (check with your local insurance agent). Please pre-register at least one week prior. The local insurance office does provide refreshments and door prizes. A minimun of 12 are needed for the class

ELEMENTARY BASKETBALL


 

Looking for something to do this winter?  Join our Jaguar     Elementary Basketball Program!  This program is for both new and seasoned ballers.  Grades 1-3 will all take place at Hinckley-Finlayson High School or Hinckley Elementary.  Grades 4-6 will practice at Hinckley-Finlayson High School or Hinckley Elementary, but for most leagues and tournaments we will be travelling to other schools. Practice dates, times and more information will be distributed in school.



Gr 1 – 3 boys & girls    (Coaches:  Dan Kreft and Bill Peel)      Fee:  $10
up to 6 practices, play at the halftime of 2 varsity games and a t-shirt 
                                  
Practice Dates will be Mondays, December 1, 15, January 5, 12 at HES Gym from 6:00 -7:15 pm
Girls in grades 1-3 will play at halftime of the Girls Varsity Game on Friday, January 30th
Boys in grades 1-3 will play at halftime of the Boys Varsity Game on Friday, January 23rd
