EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION POLICY FOR PARA PROFESSIONALS
POLICY #425
PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to establish District standards of educational preparation and/or minimum competency required of paraprofessionals as a condition of employment with the school district.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICY
All individuals employed by the school district as an educational/management professional must minimally meet one of the following educational preparatory or competency requirements as a condition of employment:
Professional Development for Paraprofessionals-
Each school year all Paraprofessional staff will be offered a minimum of 16 hours of staff development to build and maintain skills.
POLICY APPLICATION TO EXISTING STAFF
This policy is effective with Board adoption and shall apply to all educational/management paraprofessionals of the school district.

All individuals employed by the school district as an educational/management professional must minimally meet one of the following educational preparatory or competency requirements as a condition of employment:
- Holding an Associate of Arts degree
- Completing two years of college (or 60 semester credits)
- Successful Passage of the State Test for Paraprofessionals (ParaPro Test)
