HINCKLEY-FINLAYSON PUBLIC SCHOOLS
ACCOUNTABILITY
POLICY # 606
As a part of the district’s Systems Accountability process, the Hinckley-Finlayson Board of Education has adopted K-12 curriculum goals that provide the board direction for curriculum and instruction. Further, learner outcomes for each subject area have been developed at the grade and course level and reviewed by district staff on a cyclical basis. State Board of Education adopted core curriculum and Minnesota Graduation Standards will be integrated into the district learner outcomes. A plan for the allocation of resources for the district Systems Accountability process will be developed and revised annually by district staff. This plan shall include the resources necessary to conduct a thorough curriculum review and evaluation cycle.
A procedure is on file in the Superintendent’s Office for a parent, guardian, or an adult student 18 years of age or older to review the content of the instructional materials to be provided to a minor child or to an adult student, and if the parent, guardian, or adult student objects to the content, to make reasonable arrangements with school personnel for alternative instruction.
Where weaknesses are found to exist in district programs, improvement plans will be developed and implemented by staff. Where applicable, the district will integrate existing programs into district Systems Accountability procedures to maximize resources. A Systems Accountability report will be prepared annually by district staff and submitted to the board for adoption and dissemination to district residents. A district Systems Accountability (Curriculum Advisory) committee is authorized to represent the community and provide curriculum advice to the board and district residents. Role and responsibility descriptions will be developed for all participant groups (e.g. Systems Accountability committee, district staff, etc.) in the district Systems Accountability process.
