Snapchat, a smartphone app that allows users to communicate with others through photos and videos, released a new update on May 1, 2014. We have found no educational purpose in the use of this application, rather found it disruptive to student learning. It is therefore, banned from use within the school and school network.

YIK-YAK

According to a recent story by CNN, Yik Yak has been used by teens in some middle and high schools for everything from cyber bullying to illegal activity. It is therefore, strictly prohibited from use on school devices and the school network.

OMEGLE

Omegle is a website and mobile app that allows a user (of any age) to simply log on anonymously and chat with a random stranger. For obvious reasons this app is unsafe and can create a dangerous situation for students. It is therefore, banned from all school devices and school network use.

KIK

Kik is a messaging app with features that allow communication with strangers who share their Kik usernames to find people to chat with. This app is prohibited from use within the school, on school devices and the school network

BETTERNET

Betternet is prohibited on the school network due to network security.
