JOB DESCRIPTION: Hinckley-Finlayson High School is seeking three 1.0 Special Education Teachers for the 2024-2025 school year.  Two positions are working within our EBD program and one position is working with SLD – math.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Current MN Licensure in Special Education in ASD, DCD, EBD, SLD, ABS, or DAPE

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

•  Work with a variety of students within any disability area

•  Must have good written and verbal communication skills

•  Must be able to create thorough lesson plans and implement them effectively

•  Must be able to do assessments for purposes of determining special education eligibility

•  Must have good data collection expertise and the ability to monitor student progress

•  Must be a good collaborator and team player

•  Must be able to work with and supervise paraprofessionals

Job Description:
Hinckley-Finlayson High School is seeking a 1.0 Dean of Students/ Behavioral Interventionist Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. This position will work with Junior High students and teachers as a Dean of Students, facilitate utilization of evidence-based and positive behavior practices that help support students in the classroom and assist teachers through developing individualized interventions, implementing restorative justice practices, and providing support with corrective teaching.

Job Functions:
Serve as a Dean of Students to our junior high student population (7-9).
Assist with IEP meetings.
Develop equitable systems by leading positive behavior programs and strategies for students in the classroom.
Develop interventions, functional behavior assessments and behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students with challenging behaviors.
Communicate with appropriate teachers and other district staff personnel as necessary on behavior matters.
Provide support to teachers and staff while building a positive school climate to meet the needs of a variety of students.
Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with students, staff, families and community members.
Actively participate in grade level team meetings and professional development.
Collect and maintain behavioral data.
Assist building principal and dean in handling minor behavioral issues, processing with students and working with parents.
Participate in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of supporting students in the MTSS process.
Adhere to district policies and procedures.
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
Coordinate and facilitate lunch and after school detention.
Promote a positive behavioral support mindset with staff and students.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

  • Develops and administers Math curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.

  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning.

  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs.

  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by the district.

  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

  • Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in PLCs and other monthly meetings.

Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students during school hours throughout the school year. Whether you are a recent grad, career changer, stay-at-home parent or retiree, you can make a great tutor! No experience? No problem. With training and on-site coaching, our tutors are prepared to help kids succeed.

The part-time position is available beginning in August, October and January. Tutors receive a paycheck every two weeks plus up to an additional $5,100 for college tuition or loans (tutors 55+ may gift the education award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child).

Hinckley-Finlayson High School and the Pine County Transition Program are looking for paraprofessionals for this program beginning with the 2024-25 school year.  

This position will work with students in our special education transition program with our 18 – 21 year old students.  This position supervises students in the community at volunteer worksites as well as provides academic support in the classroom.  This position is 5.5 hours/day from 8:15 am – 2:15 pm Monday through Friday.  The starting salary for this position is $17.98 an hour.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Principal and guidance of the Special Education Teacher, the Special Education Paraprofessional represents a broad grouping of varied positions providing instructional support, personal care and assistance to young adults in various programs and having varied special needs.  

Paras assigned to the Pine County Transition Program are expected to work with groups of students or 1:1 in the areas of instructional reinforcement and student learning assistance.  Depending upon student needs, responsibilities and duties may involve assisting and guiding students in the reinforcement of transition skill subjects, daily living skills, implementing behavioral plans and/or monitoring and enforcing appropriate behavior in accordance with instructional lesson plans and student IEPs.  Positions assigned to this classification also provide assistance and support in terms of adapting regular classroom curriculum to the special needs of each student by clearly repeating directions at the level the student understands, encouraging cooperation in classroom activities, communicating expectations, and modifying tasks into smaller steps, and assisting student with mobility, adaptive, or other special needs.  Lifting and assisting with personal care routines may also be required.

Hinckley Elementary School is seeking TWO para-professionals beginning with the 2024-25 school year. The applicants hired for these positions will work with students who have academic or behavioral needs. Candidates should have strong communication skills, be willing to work collaboratively within a team and be able to think on their toes. Required qualifications include a 2-year college degree OR the ability to successfully pass the ParaPro Assessment. Experience working with young children and/or with students who have some needs is preferred. The starting wage is $17.98 an hour,with the potential to go up from there, depending on school experience.  The hours for the positions are 6.25 hours a day (Wednesday is 5.25 hours) and the position is needed 5 days a week.
